GIRLY STUFF: Forever Young

If you read my last nail polish post you know I am not very adventurous with my color selection. Well my Birch Box changed the game this month when it presented me with a little bottle of Robin Egg blue. So I decided to try it and put a gold fleck top coat over it as well.

Nail Polish

I feel like I am probably a little old for this look but....... I am also definitely too old to be watching Vampire Diaries and I am not going to stop doing that.....so yea. Don't judge.

WEEKEND RECAP PART 2: DB Swag

It's here. The moment we've all been waiting for. Brown's training camp! This is such a joyous time of year for my husband. A time of hope, unicorns and rainbows. Before the reality of regular season smacks you across the face. When the path to the playoffs has yet to be clouded by an impossible division schedule. This is what grown man dreams are made of. And if the thrill of an Oklahoma drill is what it takes to make him happy, we shall go and we shall stand in direct sunlight for 2 hours in 90 degree heat...because we are Browns fans and THIS, of course, is THE year.

                                GO GATORS!!!

WEEKEND RECAP PART 1: Mother-in-Laws

I am so lucky to be able to say I adore my MIL. Because believe me, I've heard some stories! Mama Eisenstat was still in town this weekend and we had a really nice on Saturday. We kicked it off with some apps and drinks at Burntwood Tavern and were mesmerized by the Olympic fencing we just could not figure out. I had a Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale. Love it! Like beer and bourbon had a baby just for me. Then on Saturday night we tried Luxe Kitchen & Lounge for the first time. Amaaaazing. The decor was especially fetching and the food...yum yum yum. Then to continue the gluttony we skipped over to Sweet Moses Soda Fountain for some sundaes. Great night in Gordon Square. I do hope it continues to flourish!

WEEKEND RECAP: A Lovely Rocky River Afternoon

My mother-in-law is in town this week and we are so excited for her to be visiting. She's a heck of a lady. On Saturday we really immersed in the West Side culture with a cheese board at Rocky River Wine Bar, a stroll through Old Rocky River and...wait for it....a trip to Heinen's. It was a might pleasant and relaxing day!

WEEK IN SNAPSHOTS: Foot Fiesta, Voodoo and Quinoa

A few Instagram worthy moments this past week or so have included eating the first tomato from our garden and making some delicious recipes from Pinterest: a mango black bean quinao salad & strawberry rhubarb bars! Fun fact: Rhubarb is technically a vegetable, but the U.S, classified it as a fruit because it was really only used in pies. We also enjoyed a very delicious Bacon Maple Ale  from Rogue in collaboration with Voodoo Doughnut based on their popular treat. Charlie and I actually tried some Voodoo doughnuts last fall so I threw that shot in here as well :) I recommend both the beer and the doughnuts. Go Oregon!

FUN WITH FRIENDS: Put-in-Bay 2012

Put-in-Bay weekend. Even though I drag my feet to get there, I always end up having a good time. This year the little island brought together a scruffy group of friends from Cleveland, Chicago, Brooklyn and even Afghanistan (thank you for your service Todd!). It's not always pretty but it sure makes some memories we will never forget :) We have to go back, Kate. We have to go back.

P.S. This picture just really makes me laugh:

'Twas a week of rebellion which included our annual Put-in-Bay trip (more to come) and eating ice cream for lunch at Sweet Moses!

HOME: Living Room Progress

Two small developments in the living room that have made a huge difference.

1) Getting the glass made to top our beloved eBay score - the vintage Hollywood Regency coffee table. Please note the little ram heads and hooves. I love it so much.

2) Charlie finally hung up the sconces from Etsy. They are circa 1965 and super groovy baby! I like how they play off of the diamonds in the rug.

STYLE: Go Neon or Go Home, Apparently

So I started packing tonight for Put-in-Bay Weekend 2012 and it would appear that I've officially ended my neon resistance. I guess if there was any place to do that this would be it. Can't wait to head down Friday afternoon for a couple days of sunshine and good friends!

WEEKEND RECAP: Relaxing with Family

It's been so nice having Eileen in town. We had a lovey weekend which included dinner at Market in Rocky River (I highly recommend the scallops), brunch at Deagan's (Charlie's shrimp and grits was awesome) and a relaxing Sunday afternoon at Rocky River Park watching puppies play and boats sail by. Seriously one of my favorite places in the Riv!

WEEK IN SNAPSHOTS: There was a lot of eating!

No cat pics this week. I am a bad mamma.

CELEBRATE: Happy Birthday America!

Our fourth of July was nice and laid back. We had a few family members over and cooked out. My aunt is town from Georgia to visit with us over the next week. It was about 100 degrees so we didn't sit outside very much, which was fine with me. Sweating from just sitting in a chair is not really my thing. I hope everyone had a very pleasant fourth as well!!

I picked these Hydrangeas from our yard! We have two big bushes. Anyone need some wedding      centerpieces? :)
